John P. Filer

My journey began through the United States Pony Club, where I achieved my HA certification. Since then, I’ve remained actively involved in the program, serving as an instructor, regional examiner, horse management judge, and education coordinator. These roles have allowed me to foster a teaching style that emphasizes thoughtful horsemanship, technical accuracy, and the development of confident, capable riders.

Professionally, I have worked as an assistant trainer, working student, and farm manager across respected programs including Freedom Run Equestrian Center, Islander Stables, and under professionals such as USDF “S” Judge Trenna Atkins.

Throughout my career, I have developed young horses from the ground up, managed lesson programs, coached riders at local and rated shows, and organized USEA-recognized events in coordination with international course designers. My foundation in biomechanics, Dressage, and Eventing informs my riding and teaching, and I am passionate about building a positive, educational, and high-standard environment for both horses and humans.
